Choosing the right Level

There are 6 levels to the apprenticeships scheme, and choosing the right place to start is important. The levels that are available for apprenticeships are:

2 – GCSE equivalent – best for anyone who is 16 or didn’t complete GCSEs
3 – A-level equivalent – suitable for anyone who has GCSEs and over the age of 16
4 & 5 – Foundation degree equivalent – Some apprentices can progress to level 4 after college, but many will need experience within a business setting. Also a good level to up-skill current employees
6 & 7 – Degree equivalent – Degree apprenticeships combine working with studying part-time at a university. You must also meet the academic entry requirements of the course
7 – Masters equivalent – The highest level you can achieve in an apprenticeship.
